One of the food safety risks identified by HACCP is physical contamination of a product by a foreign body. To address this problem, more and more companies are investing in equipment such as metal detectors and X-ray systems. This equipment is useful for detecting metal contamination (metal detector) or contamination by high-density objects (X-ray), but many other products used in production areas cannot be detected by either metal detectors or X-ray systems. To address this issue, detectable equivalents of products used in production facilities have been developed. Their detectability is achieved by using a special metal-detectable plastic or by incorporating aluminium or metal particles into the products.
